Works with Automation consent

briskmail reply

Built

Open a reply window, or use --send for guarded auto-send.

Taught in lesson 1, Your first draft from Claude Code.

Usage

briskmail reply <message-id> [--all] [--body B | --body-file F] [--send]
briskmail reply --current [--all] [--body B | --body-file F]

Without --send, Briskmail opens a filled-in reply window and sends nothing. With --send and a message id, the auto-send switch and Touch ID grant are required; unknown recipients become a saved draft.

Needs macOS Automation consent and no switch.

Arguments and flags

<message-id>
Gmail's id for the message you are answering. Not with --current.
--current
Reply to the conversation open in Briskmail's window, instead of giving a message id. Not with <message-id>.
--all
Reply to everyone on the message.
--body TEXT
The reply, as plain text. Not with --body-file.
--body-file PATH
Read the reply from a file, or from stdin with -. Use instead of --body. Not with --body.
--send
Auto-send this reply through the guarded Undo Send window. Requires a message id and the auto-send switch plus Touch ID grant.

Global flags

--account ID
An account id from accounts.json. Leave it out to use the first account. Accepted before or after the command.
--dev
Send the command to the dev build (com.valleyedgeconsulting.edgemail.dev) instead of Briskmail. Only useful when working on Briskmail itself.

Exit codes

CodeMeaning
0Without --send, the reply window is open and prints ok. With --send, prints sent, held-as-draft or rate-limited.
2Not allowed: macOS refused Automation, or --send needs the auto-send switch and Touch ID grant.
3Briskmail reported an error, such as an id it cannot find.
64Bad usage, such as a missing message id.
