Briskmail Gmail, still yours
Keep Gmail. Change the window.
Briskmail works with the account you already have. Your labels, conversations, and drafts remain in Gmail while the app gives you a Mac-native way to use them.
Your password stays with Google.
Sign-in happens on Google's own page. Briskmail receives an access token for the permissions you approve and stores the account token in the macOS Keychain. It never asks you to type your Gmail password into the app.
- One account or severalEach signed-in account gets its own mailbox window. Switch from the sidebar without merging the accounts' mail.
- Remove accessSign out to revoke the token and remove that account's local mail copy, or revoke access from your Google Account.
Labels and drafts still belong to Gmail.
Briskmail reads conversations through the Gmail API. Label changes and drafts go back to the account, so the same mailbox remains available in Gmail elsewhere.
- OrganizeUse Gmail labels, read and unread state, and filters from the Mac app.
- ReplyReplies carry the original thread ID and reply headers so Gmail keeps the exchange together.
- Search beyond the MacThe local copy covers a storage window you choose; a Gmail search can find mail outside it.
New mail does not need an open browser.
Gmail sends Briskmail a small change signal. The app then fetches the changed mail directly from Gmail and can show a Mac notification. If push is unavailable, Briskmail checks for changes on a fallback schedule.
- The signal is smallIt contains an account identifier and a change marker, not the subject or body of a message.
- You can check nowMailbox → Check for New Mail, or ⌘R, asks the app to refresh immediately.
Keep working with the mail on your Mac.
Messages already in the local copy stay available when your Mac goes offline. Briskmail holds supported changes and queued sends, then tries them again when the connection returns. The activity line shows what is still waiting.
- Recent mail stays closeChoose the local storage window in Settings. Mail outside it remains in Gmail and needs a connection to fetch.
- Work waits visiblyOffline work appears in the app rather than pretending it has already reached Gmail.
Briskmail is being prepared for release.
